Freelancers, Which Do You Prefer: Charging Hourly Or Charging Per Project?

When a client comes to you with a new project, how do you prefer to price your work?

Hourly rate — You charge based on the time you spend working.

Per project — You agree on one price for the entire project, regardless of how many hours it takes.

Both have their advantages.

With hourly pricing, you are  paid for the time you put in, especially when a project keeps changing or the scope isn’t clear.

With project-based pricing, you know exactly what you are earning upfront, and working efficiently can mean you earn more for your time.

But there’s always that question:

Which one actually works better for you?

Hourly or per project?
