Genetics’ is designed to provide the post-graduate students a basic uptodate study material on the various aspects of this rapidly growing subject. The second edition of the book has been considerably reduced in volume (825 pages), and the 44 chapters of the book have been reorganised in a more logical sequence. In consequence, some chapters included in the first edition were deleted for they are better covered in Biotechnology : Expanding Horizons. Further, the text has been condensed without, hopefully, compromising the information content and, more importantly, the easily readable and understandable treatment of the subject

To achieve this, every single page of the book has been subjected to stringent editing, and almost in every chapter considerable amount of new information has been added to update our current understanding of the various phenomenon. It is hoped that the second edition of ‘Genetics’ will provide more and current information in a much smaller volume, and shall remain as readable and easily comprehendible as was the first edition.
